My Trip To Malpe, Udupi And Manipal

On 25 December early in the morning, we left for Udupi with our friends and family. Our meeting point was at Taj Vivanta.Unfortunately, when we met one of our friend's car got stuck in a ditch and it took about 8 to 10 people to push it out. Finally, we got the car out and we began our journey. We stayed in Udupi for 3 days.

As we had to travel 480 kilometres it took us about 9 hours to reach Udupi. On the way we stopped at KAMAT Upahar restaurant to have some breakfast. On the way, we passed a few towns-Chitradurga,Sira,  and Agumbe, a village in the district in Shimoga. In the middle of Agumbe there were so many hair pin bends that we enjoyed it.In total there were 15 hair pin bends.Agumbe also has rainforests.

We stopped at Shimoga to fill up petrol. We then continued our journey. Finally, we reached Manipal at
3 o'clock in the afternoon. We had some lunch at a restaurant called Dollops and left for Udupi. At Udupi, we stayed at our friend's brother's house.

At 6 o'clock in the evening we went to our friend's uncle's house to collect our Christmas gifts. We also played for sometime and had dinner in their house.

The next day we all woke up and went to a restaurant called Diana for breakfast. We also watched a movie called The Hobbit in the morning. We then went to a temple called Saavira Kambadi Basadi in Moodabidri. We took a guide who showed us all the different architectures and inscriptions. He also told us that the temple had a thousand different pillars and a thousand drawings, each a different one.We then found a bell and enjoyed pulling the rope to ring it.

We then went to a restaurant called Hotel Balal to have our lunch. Then, we drove to another temple called Gomateshwara [Gomateshwara Temple] and climbed 207 steps to reach it.It had a huge statue of Bahubali, the first Thirthankar.Behind him there were statues of 20 other Thirthankars. There was also a person giving us tikas. There was a bell there too but we could ring it only by tapping it.
On the other
Then, we went back home to get our swimming costumes so we could go to the beach. We had a lot of fun.The waves were hitting our chests! Then we went to dollops for dinner.

The next morning we again went to Diana for breakfast. Then we went to an island called St. Mary's Island by boat on the Malpe beach. When we were coming close to shore, We had to shift to another boat as this boat could not go on shallow water. We reached the island and began to walk to the other side.

On the other side of the island, we went for a swim on the beach for about 3 hours. It was so much fun swimming and jumping into the water.Next, We went to see the rock formations of the island. It was amazing!almost all the rocks were hexagonal in shape and some were pentagonal.

We then came back to the other side of the island and did some jet skying, how cool was that! Then using the same boats we went back the other side of the beach.

Then, we again went to my friend's uncle's and grandmother's house to eat lunch. We then went back home and had a bath.We did nothing the rest of the day.

In the fourth day morning we had toast for breakfast, went out to my friend's grandmother's house to have lunch and nothing much for dinner.

On the fifth and final day, we had a sandwich or two in the morning and went to Diana to have breakfast. Then we came back, took our cars and began our journey to home.
At Shimoga, we stopped at a hotel called Royal Orchid to have our lunch. Then we drove on till we reached the same KAMAT Upahar to have our dinner. Now we were only 120 kilometres away from home Then, we kept driving till we reached our houses. It was about 11:15 pm when we reached our house. We had been travelling for 13 hours and 15 minutes!

A WARNING...

If you are going swimming in St. Mary's Island, be aware not to drink seawater! When I was swimming, some had got into my mouth and on the next day at 3 am in the morning I vomited!

AND A NOTE.

You do not have to do all the activities that we did but you can choose to do what you feel like.
