My Trip To Wayanad - A District in Kerala

On a weekend, I visited Wayanad,a district in Kerala with my family.there are a lot of fun activities that you can do there.I stayed there for 3 nights at a resort.

NOW I AM GOING TO DESCRIBE MY STAY IN WAYANAD

DAY 1:

  • On day 1, we left early in the morning for Wayanad.
  • On the way, we stopped by at a restaurant called Kamath to have our breakfast.
  • It was a 7 hour drive.
  • Finally, we reached the Banasura Hill Resort at 4 'o clock.
  • We were exhausted after the long and tiring drive so we had a snack in our room because we did not have any lunch.
  • After some time,we went to see a waterfall. It was a wonderful sight!
  • We tried climbing the slippery rocks of the waterfall. It was so much fun!
  • It was already 7 'o clock by the time we reached the resort so we relaxed for some time in our room.
  • Then, we had dinner, watched some television and went to sleep.
DAY 2:

  • The next morning, we had breakfast and went to see the Banasura Sagar Dam.
  • WE could also do boating using a speed boat in the dam, so we booked tickets to ride in the speed boat.
  • There was a play area nearby so we played there till our turn came.
  • There were huge swings that hung on trees. There were also swings in which 2 people could sit.
  • Suddenly, it started raining heavily.
  • We found a place where we could take shelter so we quickly went there.
  • Finally, it stopped raining and we got a chance to ride in the speed boat.
  • It was so much fun!The driver made the boat rock in the water and made very steep turns. We also passed many islands on the way.
  • We took a jeep to the lake parking lot and drove to the resort.
  • We had a late lunch and relaxed for an hour.
  • Then ,we went to see a tribal village along with another family.
  • We booked a jeep.It was a very bumpy ride
  • The road narrowed more and more as we went.
  • Finally ,we reached the village.
  •  A guide who had also come with us showed us around.
  • He showed us a tribal house.
  • We did some archery over there. It was so much fun!
  • We also went to to see temples of Shiva and Paravati but women [WI-MEN] were not allowed.
  • Then ,we headed back home and took some rest.
DAY 3:

  • On the morning of the third day ,we booked a TEMPO TRAVELLER and headed for the edakkal caves [ED-U-KUL].
  • At last ,we reached the bottom of the caves.
  • The driver parked the mini van and we all got down.
  • We bought tickets and were ready to climb the steep rocks and steps to get to the caves.
  • As we were climbing,we came to a tunnel made of boulders.
  • We saw a script  written in an ancient language on a boulder but thought there was no way through the tunnel.
  • Another group along with us were also looking for a way past the tunnel; just then I saw a staircase going upwards and shouted " look! ,look! ,I have found a staircase! ".
  • And then we all climbed up the staircase and reached the top of caves.
  • We then turned right and headed towards another staircase that led us down.
  • There we saw so many ancient scripts and drawings.
  • There were two rocks on each side of us and on the top there was another big bolder which looked as if it was going to crash on us.
This was the end of our trip to Wayanad.

NOTES:

1. You do not have to do all the activities that we did but you can choose to do what you feel like.

  7. Siddhant, wonderful write up. I truly enjoyed reading your travelogue. Your writing shows how much you have enjoyed your trip. But more important, it shows your interest and motivation in putting it into words and not just taking it as a vacation..very nice. Great going..And yes, I like the title.. "The Ideas Of A Curious Mind". Keep writing. Good luck for all your future blogs.

  9. Hi Siddhant, I loved reading your blogpost about Edukul. It is now on my must-see places list. You have mentioned that you saw an ancient script... do you think it could have been Sanskrit?

  11. Excellent travlelogue by you Siddanth... Your attention to details and they way you use bullet points is very crisp and clear. Having visited Wayanad myself, I can imagine the amount of fun you must have had. We did not do the Edakkal Caves when we went there a couple of years as it was heavy monsoons and I think there was some restriction to access.... but your beautiful pictures have filled that gap in our trip too. Keep up your good work.... You have definitely made your parents proud!
